Brooklyn being the home of all things new-indie these days and with the usual flood of bands that make it here to play every summer, it’s good that the flow is peppered with some big hitters like these guys. Here We Go Magic are responsible for maybe the catchiest indie pop numbers since like, forever, and their gig here in Berlin at Roter Salon is going to be the most amazingest swirl of dancing and partying since like, um, forever.
The new one from them, A Different Ship (Secretly Canadian), isn’t just a party disc you shove on when people come past for drinkies, but it can be that sometimes. Put it in the same box as Ween, but a bit more sensible and less desperate, quite a bit like old Hot Chip before they turned crap and unlikeable. If you know what we mean. Plus, this clip is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.
